Good populace, it was wonderful to see all those who could make it out to our crown war and tournament. As no one was so foolish as to challenge the undefeetable Archduke this was a fun war driven by the highly contentious assertion that Green is the best color.
The green army gathered archers for a "closest to the peg" challenge. Not green shot a collective 37 1/8 inches from the peg while green slipped in with 24 1/2 inches. As this was a fun war we left the challenge at that.
Combat included an active set of scenarios starting with a "kill the general" scenario where each army could resurrect until the death of their general, followed by a "sword in the stone" round where the only permanent deaths could be doled out by the general holding a sword pulled from a stone (hay bale). Finally, we enjoyed a champions battle where the general designated his second, who designated a third, and so forth down the line. We ran both shinai and rapier and had such a good time fighting that we lost track of who represented which side and declared the combat war points a wash.
There were no war arts points leaving us with the only recorded war point in favor of green... but we already have colors for the chapter.
Our archery tournament was also closest to the peg. For the bowman's list, Mistress Lunzie landed an arrow a mere 1 3/8 inches from the peg and was awarded the bowman's win while Sir Logan was awarded the Huntsman's win at 2 and 7/8 inches although we note that he only beat out the second place arrow from Sir Griff by 1/8 of an inch.
We added in a makeup shoot from last month utilizing an excellent dragon target. Remarkably enough, Mistress Lunzie earned a second bowman's win in this tournament and will be summarily removed to the Huntsman's list. Sir Logan opened with four head shots in the first round and handily took the Huntsman's list win. Congratulations to both Mistress Lunzie and Sir Logan for their domination of the tournaments appropriate steps will be taken to put you in your places... by people who shoot better than I do.
Our rapier tournament was a standard progression two out of three but included some of our newer fighters and a number of excellent rounds including the "Girls just want to have fun" round which, oddly enough, didn't include any women but is out on the book of faces somewhere. Sir Griff took the tournament win after a number of very good passes in the round robin final.
We had a most excellent brisket cooked by Sir Griff and additional food that filled in the afternoon/evening along with good time around the fire communing with friends.
